Gold Glove shortstop Anthony Volpe was back in the New York Yankees’ starting lineup Monday night, two days after he injured his left shoulder diving for a grounder.Volpe did not play in Sunday’s 7-5 loss to Tampa Bay but was penciled in to bat sixth in Monday’s rain-threatened series opener against San Diego.

The veteran infielder would figure to get playing time at second base, given Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s oblique strain, which will keep the lefty-hitting second baseman out of the Yankees' lineup for the next four-to-six weeks.

Anthony Volpe is back in the Yankees' lineup Monday night against the Padres, just two days after a shoulder scare that had the team holding its breath.
