Rookie Will Warren (2-2, 4.75) has battled inconsistency thus far, and the Yankees parted ways with Carlos Carrasco (2-2, 5.91) last week. Fried and Carlos Rodón (3.29 ERA and an American League-high 67 strikeouts in 54.2 innings) can’t carry the rotation on their own, especially if Gil and Stroman remain out through the summer.

The New York Yankees’ starting rotation has dealt with its fair share of injuries throughout the 2025 MLB season. Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil have both missed time, and so has Marcus Stroman. Stroman hasn’t pitched for the Yankees since April 11 against the San Francisco Giants and has only made three starts this season.

Stroman struggled in all three of his starts this season, and lasted just nine batters in his most recent start on April 11 before landing on the IL. On a rainy night in The Bronx against San Francisco, he allowed five runs on four hits and three walks in just 0.2 innings.
