Much has been made about Cleveland adding both Dillon Gabriel and Sanders to a quarterback room that already featured veteran Joe Flacco and 2022 first-round choice Kenny Pickett.

But the decision was reportedly entirely up to general manager Andrew Berry, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. The Browns didn't play to take Sanders heading into Day 3 of the draft, but saw it as "a no-brainer" when he was still available in the fifth round.

The Browns say that owner Jimmy Haslam doesn't have a say in personnel decisions. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio doesn't believe it, with him citing Shedeur Sanders' draft pick as the latest example.
