LeBron James sprained a ligament in his left knee during the Los Angeles Lakers' final playoff game, a person with knowledge of the injury told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because the team and James didn't make a public announcement two days after the Lakers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James sustained a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee during Game 5 of the Western Conference first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, ESPN reported on Friday.

As has been tradition when the Lakers' season ends, James left open the possibility he could retire following their Game 5 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
